Local Sports For Friday February 1

Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team defeated Sioux Lookout last night at the Ice for Kids Arena 6-2.

They host Red Lake tonight - 7:15 p.m. is the game time.



International Falls Broncos boys hockey team was defeated 8-3 by Hibbing.

The girls hockey team was victorious over Eveleth-Gilbert 7-1

The boys basketball team defeated Warroad 63-56

The girls team dumped Mesabi East 70-62.



Rainy River Voyageurs women's hockey team has signed a pair of players for its team next season.

Courtney Hlady, who plays both forward and defence, and goalie Shay Perry both hail from Portage La Prairie, Manitoba.



Several area hockey teams are competing at the Thunder Bay Elks Central Canada tournament.

Fort Frances Canadians AA pee-wee team takes on the host Elk 82's this morning.

The Kennedy K-9 play the Elks 82's this morning in the bantam B division.

Homlund Leafs face the Norwest Stars in the same division.

Atikokan Voyageurs and Emo Express have their first games in the midget B division this afternoon.



Girls hockey teams take over the Memorial Sports Centre this weekend.

The Fort Frances Girls-Women's Hockey Association is staging its bantam and midget tournament.

Energy Fitness Wild plays Emo at 11 a.m. this morning to kick off bantam play.

Pharmasave Wildcats face Dryden to open the midget side of things.

Teams from Warroad and Thunder Bay are also taking part.
