Local Sports For Wednesday November 20

Kathy Jackson is into the win column at the Dominion Curling Club Championships in Thunder Bay.

The Fort Frances rink split games yesterday, beating New Brunswick 9-4 in the afternoon before losing to Alberta 5-2 last night and sits in a tie for fourth in the grey pool at 1 and 2.

The team plays Nova Scotia this morning and Northwest Territories this afternoon.



The Fort Frances Lakers picked up a point, but their 15-game win streak has come to an end.

The Lakers lost 5-4 in a shootout to the Thunder Bay North Stars in a game that needed five rounds to decide.

The Lipinski brothers, Kyle, Lyndon and Bryce and Lucas Debenedet provided the scoring for the Lakers in regulation time.

The Lakers are in Hoyt Lakes tonight face the Minnesota Iron Rangers.



In high school hockey, Fort Frances Muskies boys team beat Kenora's Beaver Brae Broncos 6-3 to improve to 2 and 0 in NorWossa play.

International Falls Broncos girls hockey team blanked Park Rapids 2-0.



The swimming season for the Falls High School girls team has ended.

Abby Kostiuk, Emily Saari and the team's 200 medley relay team, all failed to move on, following preliminary heats yesterday at the State Class A meet in Minneapolis.
