Local Sports for Monday August 8

Dave Bennett of Sioux Narrows and Mark Libitka of Kenora teamed up to win the Kenora Bass International.

Their three day catch of 50.67 pounds of bass was just over a tenth of a pound better than Kenora's Jeff Gustafson and Chris Savage.



Strong performances by two local athletes at a triathalon in Duluth over the weekend.

48-year-old Lori Green was 17th among female finishers and second in her age group.

38-year-old Jason Kabel was 10th in his age category.




Feature races at Emo Speedway got washed out Saturday.

The main events for the street stock, modified and midwest mods will be run next Saturday.

There's no word yet if there will be a make-up date for the Super Trucks feature.



Go-Karting at Emo Friday says Jyllian Westover win a heat and the feature in the novice class.

Justin Besch won the other heat.

Tanner Williamson won a heat and the feature in the advanced class.

Aric Supinski took checkers in the other heat.

Borderland Soccer League kicks of its post-season tonight.

In the women's division, first place Boston Pizza takes on last place Taggs Source for Sports.

On the men's side, its regular season winners Pharmasave playing the Rendez-Vous Voyageurs.



Borderland's Fort Freakshow combined with Timmins Gold Miners' daughters for a roller derby bout in Sault Ste. Marie where they defeated the home team 133-89.

Fort Freakshow will hold a home contest next month.
