Local Sports for Wednesday April 13

Fort Frances Thunderhawks fell 3-1 to Clarenville, Newfoundland at the Allan Cup tournament in Kenora.

The lose leaves the Hawks at the bottom of its division and forced to play an extra playoff game if their to reach the final four.



The Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs continue to celebrate their NCAA men's hockey championship.

Joe Basaraba of Fort Frances says it was a great win in his first year with the team.

"I knew coming in we were going to have a great team," says Basaraba. "When we all came here last August, our goal was to win a national championship. Now that our goal has been fulfilled, it's been a pretty amazing feeling, not only for us, but for the program, the school and everything."

Basaraba says there has been a great response to UMD's win all through Minnesota.



Falls High School boys track relay teams finished first overall at the Warrior-Eagle Relay event.

The team earn first place finishes in the 4 by 400, 4 by 800 and 800, 24-hundred and 32-hundred metres sprint medleys.
