Local Sports for Monday November 14


Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team opened its NORWOSSA season with a 4-3 over Dryden.

Jeff Davis, Tyler Mosbeck, Nick Jourdain and Chris Bobychinski scoring for the Muskies.



Two goals by Noah Loveday and singles from Eric Pitkanen and Brett Hahkala lead the Fort Frances Canadians AA peewee team to a 4-2 win over Dryden in the final of a tournament in Dryden.




The Canadians AA bantam team took silver at a tournament in Dryden, losing to the host Paperkings 7-2 in the final.




Current River defeated Atikokan 10-9 to win the Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association's pee-wee tournament.

Fort Frances Firemen took the B-side final, 3-1 over NorWest while the Emo Hawks won the C-side over Kenora Bishop.






In the Fort Frances Girls-Women's Hockey Association, the Rolling Lake Lightning and Emo play to a 2-2 draw in an atom division game.

Trindy George had both goals for the Lightning

Pasquel Shortreed  and Reece McQuaker scored for Emo.

The Fort Frances Leafs bantam team beat the Pharmasave Wildcats midgets 4-1.

Madisyn DeGagne had a hat trick for the Leafs with Madyson Weir getting the other goal.

Jessica Robinson scored for the Wildcats.






Rainy River Voyageurs women's hockey team won both games of a weekend series with Minot State, 4-0 and 3-1.

Katie Stearns earned the shutout in the opener.




Two members of the Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team have been named to the MCAC all-state all-stars.

Kelly Sorensen of Roseau and Haylee Gates of Big Falls were both named to the 2nd Team.



Steve Arpin was back on a dirt track this weekend, placing 11th in the Duel in the Desert modified race in Las Vegas.
