Local Sports for Tuesday November 1


Rainy River Owls and the Atikokan Voyageurs split games on the court yesterday in Rainy River.

The Owls took the girls basketball games with the seniors winning 33-31 and the junior earning a decisive 43-18 victory.

In boys volleyball, the Voyageurs won the senior match-up in four sets while the junior took a five-set match from the Owls.

In games last week, the Owls swept games played against Ignace Wednesday while the boys volleyball teams loss games to Whitefish Bay Thursday.




Fort Frances Muskies court teams end their regular season with home games against the Dryden Eagles.

The junior girls basketball team can clinch a bye to the NORWOSSA finals with a win.

Playoff take place next week in Dryden.




Fort France Lakers lead the league, but its the Wisconsin Wilderness who are still the only SIJHL team among the weekly top 20 junior A teams in Canada.

The Wilderness are second.

The Lakers did receive a honourable mention in voting this past week.
