Local Sports for Thursday November 10


District high school schools claimed just one NORWOSSA A title played in Rainy River yesterday.

The host Owls took the junior girls basketball crown with a 41-16 win over the Atikokan Voyageurs

The Voyageurs also earned silver in junior boys volleyball, losing in four sets to Kenora's Thomas Aquinas.

Atikokan's senior boys volleyball team also lost to the Saints in four in their final.

While the Owls were 42-36 losers to Thomas Aquinas in the final of senior girls basketball.




Fort Frances Muskies compete for NORWOSSA titles on the court in Dryden.

The junior and senior boys volleyball teams and senior girls basketball team are facing Kenora this morning for the right to face Dryden in their respective finals.

The junior girls basketball team earned a bye to their final after finishing first in the regular season.



Fort Frances Lakers are on the road tonight with a game against the Iron Range Ironheads.




Members of the Borderland Roller Derby is looking for a new name.

It's being playing under the name Fort Freakshow since formed last year.



In girls hockey from last night, the Lakewood Tire Eagles defeated Kaemingh Esso 6-2 in a pee-wee division match-up.

Maignyn Degagne, Annalise Hayes and Kelsey Langtry each scored twice for the Eagles.

Jenna Clendenning and Emma Noga replied for Esso.

In the bantam division, Skate and Blades edged the BDO Stars 2-1.

Madisyn DeGagne and Ericka Sheppard scored for Skate and Blades.

Maddyson Weir replied for the Stars.

Tonight its ACO Electric Chargers midget team facing the Fort Frances Leafs bantam team at the Ice for Kids Arena beginning at 7:15 pm.
