Local Sports for Monday November 22

Fort Frances Muskies boys' hockey team finished first overall at a tournament in Morden, Manitoba, winning 7-1 in the final.


The Muskies girls' team beat Sioux Lookout 12-3 Sunday for its Norwossa league win.

Jillian Langtry led with four goals.

Katie Sinclair and Shae-Lynn Smith each had a pair with singles from Danielle Jean, Taylor Dixon, Alyssa Penner and Nicole Horn.



The B-D-O Stars Bantam girls' hockey team captured gold at a tournament in Thunder Bay on the weekend, defeating another local team the Pinewood Blades 3-0 in the final.

The Stars went 6-and-0 during the event with netminder Shan-Lee Fryer recording back-to-back shut outs in the semi-final and final games.



Brenley Anderson of Rainy River scored twice to help the Rainy River Voyageurs women's hockey club earn a 4-1 win Sunday and a split in a weekend series with the University of Minnesota.

It's the first time the Division 2 Voyageurs have ever beaten a large Division 1 team.

Katie Stearns of Fort Frances stopped 28 shots for the win.

Anderson also scored twice in Friday's 6-4.



Rainy River Voyageurs men's basketball team split games played over the weekend, losing to Gogebic of Michigan Friday 65-64.

Saturday, the men rebounded with a 93-87 win in overtime over Itasca.

Prince Williams led with 18 points in the game.
