Local Sports for Thursday November 25

Raymond Roy's Northern Ontario rink is 1 and 1 following the first day of play at the Dominion Curling Club championship in Prince Edward Island.

Roy's Fort Frances rink opened with a convincing 10-4 win over New Brunswick, but fell 8-5 to Alberta in the afternoon.

This afternoon at 12:30 p.m. CST, the team goes up against Manitoba.



Fort Frances Lakers lost their third straight in a 5-4 decision to the Thunder Bay North Stars.

Tyler Stevenson, Jace Baldwin, Henry Gutierrez on a penalty shot and Ryan Wildman, scored for the Lakers who have fallen out of first place and into a second place tie with the Stars.

Wisconsin took over the top spot with their win over Dryden.



Two area high school teams begin their quest for OFSSA gold today.

The Rainy River Owls open play in Welland in the Senior Girls Basketball Division A Championship this morning with a game against Confederation of Sudbury.

Atikokan's senior boys volleyball team have been seeded 4th at the Division A Championship in Missisauga and open play this afternoon.
