Local Sports for Monday November 1


The Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team defeated Kenora 4-1 in the final to capture a tournament in Dryden.

Colton Spicer with a pair, Brett McMahon and Robbie Rae scored for the Muskies.

Devon Stromness earned the win in net.


Fort Frances Muskie Girls hockey team captured silver at the Sturgeon Heights Husky Classic in Winnipeg over the weekend.

The Muskies gave up just 3 goals in 5 games, losing lost 2-1 in a shootout in the final to Oak Park.



Rainy River Voyageurs women's hockey team defeated the University of Minnesota-Duluth 5-2 yesterday to capture their home-opening tournament for the first time.

Brenley Anderson and Jesse Baker each scored twice while Courtney Scholler added the other.



The Fort Frances AA Atom Snipers overcame a 3-1 third period deficit to defeat the Kenora Thistles 6-4 Saturday at the Ice for Kids Arena.



International Falls' Amy Auran has earned a trip to the State cross-country running championships later this week.

Auran earned the berth after finishing tenth in the girl's side of the section 7A championship meet in Cloquet Friday.
