Local Sports for Friday July 8

A respectable 12th place finish for Steve Arpin in NASCAR's truck series race at Kentucky Speedway.

The race was won by Kyle Busch.

Arpin did get caught up in a multi-car accident with four laps remaining, but was still able to finish the race on the lead lap.

The Fort Frances native will race next week in Iowa.



Pharmasave has taken over top spot in the men's division in the Borderland Soccer League.

Pharmasave was given the win last night over Manitou Forest Products when Manitou failed to field a full squad.

And the Rendez-Vous Voyageurs blanked Emo 5-0.

Colton Spicer and Gavin Moorehouse each scored twice for the Voyageurs.



In the Rainy River District Fastball League, Beef's Warriors blanked Rainy River 3-0.

Stratton beat Sight & Sound 5-3.

The Big Grassy Braves edged Barwick 9-8.

Northwest Bay won for the first time, nipping Big Grassy Lighting 16-15.

A game between Big Island and Manitou was postponed.



Fort Frances Muskies Football team will begin weekly flag football scrimmages this Sunday at Fort Frances High School.

Their open to anyone, especially students interested in playing football this fall.

The game are every Sunday at noon until the start of school.
