Local Sports for Friday October 29

Fort Frances Lakers picked up a point, but lost for the second straight time at home, falling 3-2 to Sioux Lookout in overtime last night.

Tyler Stevenson with his 16th of the season and Henry Guetierrez scored for the Lakers.

The Flyers winning goal came 3 minutes into OT.



Brenley Anderson scored twice to help the Rainy River Voyageurs women's hockey team to a 3-3 tie against the University of Alaska at Bronco Arena last night.

Kaylynn McBurney-Flett had the other Voyageurs goal.

This weekend they host a tournament opening at 4 p.m. today with a game against Minot State.



Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team defeated John Taylor High School 6-0 in the opener of the tournament in Winnipeg.

Shae Lynn Smith, Jessica Taggart, Jillian Langtry, Taylor Dixon, Erika Timkin and Hailey Clendenning provided the scoring while Melissa Payne got the shut out in net.

The Muskies face Sturgeon Heights this afternoon.

The boys team opens play in a tournament in Dryden with a game this morning against Red Lake.




Fort Frances Muskies football team opens the Winnipeg High School Football League playoffs with a games against Dakota.

That game being played this afternoon in Winnipeg.

The Muskies junior and senior boys volleyball teams are also in Winnipeg today for tournament play.
