Local Sports for Monday January 30


A Devlin woman is off to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Jenna Enge is a member of the Tracy Horgan's Sudbury rink that won the provincial curling title in Kenora on the weekend.




Fort France Canadians AA midget team captured a tournament in Grand Forks, North Dakota with an 8-nothing win over a team from Montana in the final.

Sam Berube and Brandon Sinclair each had a pair of goals with singles from Lucas Koomans, Tyler Fontana, Gabe Handorgan and Dylan Grinsell.

Canadians went undefeated, giving up just one goal along the way.




Skates and Blades bantam girls hockey team was a tournament winner in Dryden.

Pharmasave Wildcats won bronze in the midget division of the same tournament while the ACO Electric Chargers placed fourth.




Rainy River Voyageurs women's hockey team swept South Dakota State 6-1 and 3-2.

Katie Stearns of Fort Frances earned both wins in net.



Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team doubled up Kittson Central Friday 10-5 then beat Red Lake Falls Saturday 7-4.




International Falls Broncos boys hockey team lost to Grand Rapids Friday 4-3

The Broncos boys basketball team beat Mesabi East Friday 82-58.




The Arrowhead Ultra is under way.

Participants from around the world are running, biking or skiing the 135 mile route from International Falls to Tower.
