Local Sports for Wednesday January 4


Jordan Larson scored his league-leading 27th of the season in helping the Fort Frances Lakers to a 7-2 win over Sioux Lookout at the Memorial Sports Centre.

Jon Carlson, Steve Terry, Bryan Broders, Adam Wensley, Byron Katapaytuk and Davis Smith also replied for the Lakers who have now won five straight.




Christian Kittelson had a hat trick in the International Falls Broncos boys hockey team's 10-0 shellacking of Eveleth.

Lucas Debenedet with two, Mason Meyer, Joel Skirten, Colton Lafrance and Jack Bragg rounded out the Bronco scoring.



The Broncos girls basketball team lost Northeast Range 61-41.



Fort Frances Canadians AA peewee netminder Parker Orchard was the winner of a skills competition on the weekend in Bemidji.




The city of International Falls bid to be the Capital of the State of Hockey in Minnesota has come to an abrupt end.

The city has been beaten out by Duluth in second round voting of the NHL's Minnesota Wild's on-line contest.
