Local Sports for Tuesday January 25


Fort Frances Lakers picked up a win yesterday without being on the ice.

The SIJHL has awarded a 1-0 victory to the Lakers in their January 18 game with Dryden after determining the Ice Dogs had dressed 21 players, one more than allowed by Hockey Canada.

The Lakers had lost that game 6-4.



Brett Musich had a five-goal night as the International Falls Broncos boys hockey team defeated Ely 9-1.



Four players reached double digits in scoring as the Broncos boys basketball team beat Eveleth-Gilbert 82-32.

Gunnar Anderson led all Broncos with 17 points.



Rachel Homan of Ottawa is alone at the top of the standings at the Ontario women's Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kenora.

Homan is 3 and 0 after yesterday's draws.

Five teams, including Thunder Bay's Krista McCarville, are tied for second at 2 and 1.
