Local Sports for Tuesday January 31

Fort Frances Lakers gave up the tying goal 13 seconds left in regulation then lost 4-3 in a shoot out to the visiting Dryden Ice Dogs at the Memorial Sports Centre last night.

Lakers had led 3-1 in the third on goals from Jordan Larson, Ryan Wildman and Brandon Fehd.




Members of the Border Skating Club earned a handful of gold medals at the Sunset Country Regional Skating Championships on the weekend in Kenora.

Alina Eldridge earned three first place finishes while Sophie Potvin-Begin took two firsts.

Jamie Spencer also won in Junior Bronze solo dance.

Kevin Breitenbrek of Alaska has won the bike portion the Arrowhead 135 from International Falls to Tower

Breitenbrek crossed the finish by a wheel length ahead of Tim Bernston, also of Alaska.
