Local Sports For Monday April 29

Falls High School girls track team captured its first meeting of the season, taking top honours at the Mesabi East indoor meet on Saturday.

Abby Kostiuk in the 400 metre run, Hailey Fentem in the 55 metre hurdles and the girls 4 by 800 relay team all earned first place finishes.

The boys team was third with Jason Pumper scoring a pair of second place finishes in the triple jump and high jump.

Gary Harala was second in the shot put.



Rainy River Voyageurs women's softball team swept a pair away from Itasca yesterday, winning 4-2 and 10-6.

Kendra Charrois belted a home run in the 4-2 victory.



The Rainy River Voyageur men's baseball team went 500 in games played on the weekend in Thief River Falls.

Saturday, they lost games to Hibbing 3-1 and Northland Community Technical College 14-6.

Yesterday, the Voyageurs turned it around to beat Hibbing 8-5 and Northland 10-8 in a come from behind effort.
