Local Sports For Thursday April 18

Fort Frances Lakers again trail in the SIJHL championship final, after a 4-1 loss to the Minnesota Wilderness in game 3.

Tyler Broderson gave the Lakers an early first period lead before the Wilderness scored twice in the second and two more in the third.

Game four goes tomorrow at the Ice for Kids Arena.



Kenora Thistles were whitewashed 8-0 by Rosetown at the Allan Cup in Red Deer, Alberta.

They need a win today against Fort St. John to stay in the hunt.



A couple of NWOSSA badminton championships for Rainy River High School.

Skylar Arpin went undefeated in senior girls singles in Dryden to win gold and advance to the provincials next month in Chatham.

Hayley Arpin went undefeated in junior girls play to take gold.

Shauna Moen and Logan Jackson earned a bronze in the senior mixed doubles.

Taylor Whitehead of Fort Frances High School will also head to the provincials after winning gold in senior boys singles.



Jessica Caul scored twice while Melanie Hyatt added another as Peters' Plumbing & Heating blanked Cater 2 U 3-0 in the Borderland Women's Indoor Soccer League

Leon's Fort France won by forfeit over Fit Lifestyles & Conditioning.

Boston Pizza was awarded a win by forfeit over Wright Physiotherapy.
