Local Sports for Wednesday February 1

A seventh round of shooters was needed before the Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team was able to eek out a 7-6 win win over Kenora's Thomas Aquinas Saints.



International Falls Broncos girls hockey team edged the Fort Frances Muskies 3-2 in a game played in the Falls.



Erik Lassila had the hat trick as the International Falls Broncos boys hockey team thumbed Two Harbours 7-2.




On the court, the Fort Frances Muskies senior boys basketball team went on a 20-9 tear in the second half to defeat the Beaver Brae Broncos 40-26.

The junior boys held on for a 35-32 win.

The junior girls volleyball team rallied from being down 2-0, only to loss to Beaver Brae in five sets

The seniors were swept in three.



The International Falls Broncos boys basketball team lost 67-66 to Virginia.



The girls team defeated Deer River 78-61.




Jason Buffington of Minnesota has set a new record in winning the run portion of the Arrowhead 135.

Buffington was the first runner to cross the line at Tower last night, in just over 37 hours from Monday's race start in International Falls.

Casey Krueger of Minnesota won the ski division yesterday while Kevin Breitenback of Alaska won the bike course Monday.
