Local Sports For Friday August 31

The Big Grassy Braves have captured the Rainy River District Fastball League Championship.

The Braves hammered six homeruns in defeating the Stratton Eagles 14-6.

Mitch Seguin, Tim Archie, Brendan Small George, Dakota Andy and winning pitcher Travis Tom all hit homers.

It's the first ever title win for the Braves.




International Falls Broncos girls volleyball team suffered it's first loss of the season, losing to Littlefork-Big Falls in three games, 14-25, 19-25 and 11-25.

Dyana Imhof had 15 kills while Brooke Millerbernd had 7 kills and 14 digs.




Falls High School girls swim team was out-scored by Hibbing  in its first head-to-head competition in the pool this season.

Clara Wenger finished first in diving.

Emily Saari won the 100 metre breast stroke while Falls relay teams won the 200 and 400 metre freestyle events.
