Local Sports for Monday August 30

Dan Hettinga took the street stock feature as part of the Keith McNally Memorial Saturday at Emo Speedway.

It was Hettinga's first win of the season.

Points leader Glen Strachan was the winner in the modified division while Tylar Wilson claimed the Midwest Modified feature.


Steve Arpin was second at the ARCA series race at Chicagoland Speedway Friday.

Arpin started the race sixth.


The Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team placed sixth at a season-opening tournament in Fergus Falls.

The Voyageurs beat Riverland, but lost to Rochester and Hibbing in round-robin play before losing out to the host Fergus Falls in three sets, bowing 15-7 in the deciding set.


The first of two days of registration for Fort Frances Minor Hockey takes place tonight at the Memorial Sports Centre.

It's goes from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Registration can also be done on-line.

Registration for girls hockey goes later this week.



Terry Gill and Chad Hanson were this year's winners of the Morson Bass Classic.

They won with a two-day combined catch of 36.7 lbs.

Jon O'Conner and Alexis Wilcott were second at 34.7 lbs.
