Local Sports for Tuesday September 7

Steve Arpin used his experience on the dirt to win ARCA's race on a dirt track in DuQuoin Illinois.

The Fort Frances native took over the lead from Tom Hessert for the last 38 laps to capture his third win of the year.


A fourth-place finish in Saturday's feature was enough for Brady Caul to grab the Midwest Modified championship at Emo Speedway.

Caul finished the year 8 points ahead of John Hettinga.

Ron Westover won his sixth street stock championship while Glenn Strachan captured his first in the modified division.

Feature winners from Saturday were Mike Wilson in the midwest modified class, Brad Loveday in the modified and Tyler Wickstrom taking the street stock.



Fort Frances Muskies dropped a 20-12 exhibition game Friday against St. Norbert in Winnipeg.

Tyler Abma scored on a 3-yard run for the Muskies while Colton Craig added another touchdown on a 23-yard passing play from Tobijah Gerber.

The Muskies open their regular season Friday at home.

In International Falls Friday, the Broncos football team opened its season with a 20-19 win over Cloquet.



The Fort Frances Lakers won 5 to 2 over the Soiux Lookout Flyers Friday night.

Jon Sinclair with a pair, Tyler Stevensen, Jace Baldwin and Henry Guiterrez did the scoring.
