Local Sports for Thursday September 2

Matt Caulfield scored two-and-a-half minutes into overtime to give the Fort Frances Lakers a 6-5 win over the Dryden Ice Dogs in an exhibition SIJHL tilt.

Mike Jourdain forced overtime for the Lakers with a goal 55 seconds remaining in the third.

Blake Boaz with a pair, Dan Chesser and Ty Brueggeman had the other goals.

Tyler Ampe had the win in net.

The Lakers are at home to Sioux Lookout Friday tomorrow.



Rainy River Voyageurs women's volleyball team opened its season with a win.

They defeated Fond Du Lac in three straight sets 25-9, 25-13, and 25-16.
