Local Sports for Friday May 28

The first day of fishing at the Emo Walleye Classic begins later this morning.

A total of 61 angling teams are entered.

The first boats are leaving Emo's waterfront at 8 a.m.

Weigh-in's at the Emo-LaVallee Arena begin at about 3:30 p.m.

Steve Arpin was well off the pace at a practice session yesterday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Arpin was 32nd fastest in the NASCAR Nationwide practice in preparation for tomorrow's race.

It goes at 1 p-m Central and can be seen on ABC.



The big guns were in Big Grassy last night.

Chris Jack, Jeff Morrison and Randy Morrison hit homeruns to lead the Lightning to a 19-1 beating of Big Island.

Elsewhere Sight and Sound moved back over 500 with a 4-1 win over Stratton.

George Oltsher picked up the shutout win in Barwick's 3-0 victory over Rainy River.

Big Grassy Braves outslugged Northwest Bay 12-8.

Sabaskong beat Manitou 9-2.
