Local Sports for Thursday May 27

Steve Arpin is back in a NASCAR Nationwide car today.

Arpin will participate in practice this afternoon in preparation for Saturday's race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

This will be Aprin's fourth appearance in the Nationwide Series for Dale Earnhardt junior's J.R. Motorsports.



Falls High School will send several members of its track teams to the section 7-A meet in Duluth next week.

Eleven individuals and two relay teams from the boys team and nine individuals and one relay team from the girls qualified following a north sub-section meet held yesterday.

Both the boys and girls team finished second overall.



Fort Frances Muskies soccer teams got shutout yesterday at the NORWOSSA championships in Dryden.

The boys team lost 3-2 in a shootout in their final to Dryden.

Muskies led 2-0 at the half, but the Eagles fought back second to force the shootout.

The girls team upset Dryden 1-0 to advance to the final where they fell 4-1 to Kenora's Beaver Brae.

Anika McTavish had the game winner in the Dryden game with Danielle Jean scoring for the Muskies in the final.



Action in the Rainy River District Fastball League tonight sees Big Island at Big Grassy Lightning.

Stratton travels to Fort Frances to play the Sight and Sound Wolves.

Barwick is at Rainy River.

Northwest Bay hosts the Big Grassy Braves and Manitou entertains Sabaskong.
