Local Sports for Monday May 10

Rainy River High School's Courtney Hansen captured gold in the "C" flight for girl's singles at the provincial high school badminton championships in Statford.

The grade 10 student lost her first two matches before winning the next four.

Fort Frances High School's girl's double team of Kamika Alexander and Chelsea Carlson lost out in the b-side quarter-finals.

Rory Bagacki also lost in the b-side quarter-finals in boy's singles.



Fort Frances Muskies boys soccer team took the consolation final of a tournament in Kenora with a 1-0 overtime win over Dryden.

David Chambers scored the winner.

Anniss Seid was named to the tournament all star team.



Rainy River Voyageur's women's softball team won the consolation final of the State Championship over Central Lakes 10-9.

Caitlin Medecke, Samantha Alberts and Kayla Rae McDonough hitting homeruns.

The Voyageurs went 1-2 on the first day of the tournament and eliminated from the main event with a loss to Riverland.



Three members of the Rainy River Voyageurs' women's softball team have earned all-star selections from the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.

Danika Stelton of International Falls and Carley Lake of Portage La Praire, Manitoba, were named to the northern division's first team.

Brenley Anderson of Rainy River was selected to the second team.



Falls high School girls track team were sixth at a meeting Saturday in Nashwauk.

Alicia Hendrickson had the team's best finish with second place finishes in the long jump and pole vault.
