Local Sports for Tuesday May 4

More details on the deal between Steve Arpin and J.R. Motorsports.

Keith White, a spokesman with the Dale Earnhardt junior owned race team, tells B-93 Arpin will race at this Saturday's Nationwide race at Darlington, but his schedule beyond that remains muddled because of commitments to other drivers.

White says the organization is working to having Arpin in as many races as possible this year with the intent of signing him to a full-time ride in 2011.



Preparation for this year's racing at Emo Speedway begin in earnest this Saturday.

The Borderland Racing Association will hold a work bee at the track beginning at 9 a.m.

The season opener is May 15.


Anika Alexander has won her first match at the 2010 Yonex junior badminton championship in Toronto.

Alexander beat Evelyn Wilkie, 21-15, 21-13, to advance to the quarter-finals of the under-14 girls singles play on the consolation side.

She plays again at 11:45 a.m. today.

In doubles play with Rachel Livergant of Alberta, the duo lost their opening match yesterday and will move to the consolation side this afternoon.


High school action in International Falls saw the Broncos boys' baseball team lose to Chisholm 6-2.
