Local Sports for Friday January 14

Two Atikokan High School students were among the winners at a NORWOSSA cross country meet in Dryden this week.

Erik Larsen won the junior boys 6-km event. Bailey Morden placed seventh.

Grant Legaree was first in the grade 7 and 8 boys 4-km event.

Kiarra Gannon was sixth in the junior girls 3 1/2 km ski.





Tim Nordin's Stratton rink will be in Kenora today in a men's curling qualifying event.

The winners advance to next weeks inter-regional event in Atikokan.







Fort Frances Lakers will look to make it five straight with a win at home over Duluth tonight at the Ice for Kids Arena.

Game time is 7:30 p.m.







Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team faces Red Lake at the 52 Canadians Rink in the first of two home games against the Rams this weekend.

Game time today is 4:30 p.m.

The girls team visits Dryden.

The Muskies junior and senior boys basketball teams are in tournament play in Thunder Bay.

At Falls High School, the Broncos girls hockey team plays Park Rapids - 7:30 p.m. at Bronco Arena.

The Broncos girls basketball team hosts Tower-Soudan - 7:30 p.m. at Falls High School.

The boys basketball team is at Babbit-Embarrass.







Steve Arpin concluded ARCA series testing at Daytona Motor Speedway, scoring the tenth fastest time yesterday.

ARCA opens its season February 8 at Daytona with Arpin racing against for Venturini Motorsports.
