Local Sports for Friday February 11

Tim Nordin defeated John Salo of Geraldton 5-3 last night to earn his third win at the Northern Ontario provincial men's curling championship in Thunder Bay.

A earlier lost, though, to Mike Assad eliminated the Stratton rink from playoff contention.

Today, Nordin's rink concludes play with games against Mike Pozihun of Thunder Bay and Mike Jakubo of Copper Cliff.



Ashley Bahr scored 2 minutes into overtime to give the International Falls Broncos girls hockey team a 4-3 win in Silver Bay.

The win moves the Broncos to a semi-final games in the Section 7-A championship against Chisago Lakes next Tuesday.

Sydney Gordon with two and MacKenzie Raboin also scored for the Broncos.



The Broncos boys hockey team lost 3-2 to the Lake of the Woods Bears.

They face Grand Rapids tonight.




Gunnar Anderson led with 24 points and 5-three pointers as the Broncos boys basketball team defeated Greenway 86-49.

The girls team also defeated Greenway, 69-48.

Hanna Heibel, with 15 points, topped all Broncos scorers.



Steve Arpin is again showing that he's will among those to beat at this weekend's ARCA series opener at Daytona Internatinoal Speedway.

The Fort Frances native drove to the fourth fastest time in practice yesterday.

Qualifying for Saturday's race goes today.



The Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team is home to Kenora's Beaver Brae Broncos.

Game time at the Ice for Kids Arena is 7:15 p.m.
