Local Sports for Tuesday February 8



Tim Nordin's Stratton rink remains winless after the second day of play at the Northern Ontario men's provincial curling championship in Thunder Bay.

Nordin lost an 11-end game to Jeff Currie of Thunder Bay yesterday morning then dropped a 7-4 decision to Thunder Bay's Bryan Burgess in the afternoon.

Today, Nordin faces Dustin Montpellier's North Bay rink and Sudbury's Robbie Gordon.




Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team defeated the Lake of the Woods Bears in Baudette last night 5-1.

Jillian Langtry had a hat trick with Shae-Lynn Smith adding the other two goals.

The Muskies are in Kenora tonight for a game against the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints.



International Falls Broncos girls basketball team lost 62-54 to Cherry.



Border Skating Club's Sophie Potvin-Begin will skate in a provincial event next month.

Potvin-Begin won the Junior Silver Ladies Freeskate at the Festival of Stars in Sault Ste. Marie on the weekend to earn a spot to the Trillium STARSkate in Mississauga.




Fort Frances Muskies senior boys basketball team earned silver at a tournament in Kenora on the weekend.

The Muskies lost 65-60 in the final to Transcona of Winnipeg.
