Local Sports for Thursday February 24

Fort Frances rinks skipped by Judy LaBelle and Roslyn Broman will represent the Rainy River district at the Northern Ontario senior curling championships that get underway today at the Fort Frances Curling Club.

LaBelle plays Barb McEwen of Thunder Bay while Broman is up against Roma Lundgren of Sudbury in first draw action this afternoon

Seven women's and six men's teams are vying for the right to represent Northern Ontario at a national event in Nova Scotia.



Fort Frances Lakers conclude their regular season with a game in Sioux Lookout tonight.

A win clinches second spot.



International Broncos boys hockey team begins play for the Section 7A championship with a game in Duluth against Duluth Marshall.



Two members of the Rainy River Voyageurs men's basketball team have been recognized for their play by the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.

Derek Scully and Sheldon Esdelle-Blackburn were named to the northern division team.

Scully also captured a spot on the all-state team.
