Local Sports for Tuesday February 22

Fort Frances Aquanaut swimmer Donovan Taylor captured two medals, including gold in the boys 16 and under 200 metre individual medley, at a national championship in London, Ontario on the weekend.

It's the first time a local swimmer has medalled at such an event.

Taylor hopes to capture a spot on the National Tri-meet team.

He also earned silver in the 400 Metres I-M.



NorWossa playoffs for the Muskies court teams get underway today in Kenora.

The girls volleyball teams have semi-final games this morning against Beaver Brae

The junior boys basketball team also plays Beaver Brae in a semi-final game.

The senior boys basketball team earn a bye to the final following a first place finish in the regular season.



Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team concludes its regular season in NorWossa tonight with a home games against the Dryden Eagles.

The Muskies will meet Dryden to open the playoffs at the end of this week.



Three area teams reached the finals of a Novice A tournament held in Fort Frances over the weekend.

Fort Frances Skates and Blades lost 4-3 to the Thunder Bay Sabres in the A-side final.

Fort Frances Taggs Sources for Sports fell 5-3 to Thunder Bay's North End in the B-Side

The Emo Little Loggers won 5-2 over Kenora for the C-side title.



Rainy River Voyageurs men's basketball team defeated Fond Du Lac Saturday 95-74.

Derek Scully led with 24 points.
