Local Sports for Friday July 13


Four netminders shared in two shutout wins in the Borderland Soccer League's men's divisions last night.

Jameson Shortreed, Chris Jodoin and Mike Sande all tended the net in Manitou Forest Products 5-0 win over Pharmasave.

Mitch Green went the distance in net for International Travel Services in a 4-0 win over the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs.

Gavin Moorhouse had three goals for the Travellers in the game.




In the Rainy River District Fastball League, Barwick handed Big Grassy just its second loss of the season 5-3.

Beefs Warriors edged Big Island 4-3 on homeruns from  Nolan Windigo and Kevin Gemmell.

Rainy River Royals walloped Sight & Sound 10-1.

Stratton got by the Sabaskong Cubs 6-5.

Couchiching defeated Northwest Bay 11-6.

Manitou nipped the Sabaskong Lakers 7-6.




Go-karts on the track in International Falls  yesterday.

Feature winners were Mike Christianson in the senior class, Garrett Paull in the beginner class, Jake Froemke in the junior class and Brian Nelson in the master class.

Go-karting at Emo Speedway goes tonight at 7 p.m. weather permitting
