Local Sports for Friday July 20


The regular season in the Rainy River District Fastball League has come to an end with Beef's Warriors upsetting the Big Grassy Braves 13-6.

Despite the loss, the Braves still end the season first overall with a 14 and 3 record, but the Warriors leapfrogged past Barwick for second spot.

The double-knockout playoffs begin next week.




Ahamadou Idrissou scored twice and Jameson Shortreed added another as Manitou Forest Products held on for a 3-2 win over International Travel Services in the Borderland Soccer League's men's division.

Nathan Jodoin scored both goals for the Travellers.

And the La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs scored an won by default over Pharmasave.

This weekend, a squad made up of players from the league's four women's teams will compete in a tournament in Kenora.




Go-karting at Rainy Lake Oil Raceway in International Falls last night saw Brian Nelson capture the feature win in the masters class.

Mike Christianson took checkers in the the senior division.

Wyatt Boyum in Junior 2, Justin Besch in junior and Garret Paull in the Beginners class the other feature wins.

Go-karting in Emo goes tonight at 7 p.m.
