Local Sports for Thursday July 12


The SIJHL's player of the year and top scorer will continue to be a Laker.

Byron Katapaytuk, whose junior A eligible with the Fort Frances Lakers has ended, will play for the Nippissing University Lakers in the CIS next season.

In his 3 seasons with Fort Frances, Katapaytuk scored 65 goals and recorded 110 assists in 149 games.




In the Borderland Soccer League, Colleen Hogan scored three times while Adrienne Smith added two more as Boston Pizza defeated Taggs Source for Sports 7-3.

Sara Kellar scored twice in Al's Racquet Stringing's 5-2 win La Place Rendez-Vous Voyageurs.




Races in the 4th leg of the Dakota Classic Modified tour was rain out in Williston, South Dakato.

Fort Frances natives Steve Arpin and Joey Galloway both in the top 25 in standings with three events to go.
