Local Sports for Monday July 9


Brad Loveday won the WISSOTA modified feature at Emo Speedway Saturday.

It was his first race at Emo in over two years.

Chuck Lambert in the midwest modified division and Darien Trimble in the street stocks were other feature winners.




On the go-kart track in Emo Friday, Aric Supinski won a heat and the feature in the advanced class.

Tanner Williamson claimed the other heat win.

Justin Besch swept the races in the Novice class.




Steve Arpin failed to make the feature event at the Minnesota modified nationals at Viking Speedway in Alexandria.

Jamie Davis, who did qualify, finished 14th.

Gavin Paull was also there, but finished last in the b-main.




Fort Frances Lakers have signed Brennan Nesrallah, a 6-foot 170 lb forward from Moosonee, Ontario.

He played midget hockey in Kapuskasing for the last two seasons, scoring 29 goals and 43 points last year.

Meantime, Lakers hold a prospect camp July 20 to 22 at Bronco Arena in International Falls.




The foursome of Blake Mainville, Sheldon Kelly, Sara Kelly and Mike Copenance were winners of the second annual "Bob Mainville" Lakers golf tournament.

A total of 36 teams participated.




Wayne Howard and Pat Howard were winners of Lake Despair Lodge's Casting for Cash Bass tournament.

They reeled in a two-day catch of 28.81 pounds of fish, beating out the team of Jeff Gustafson and Caleb Colwel by a pound and a half.
