Local Sports for Friday March 11

The Fort Frances Lakers have fallen behind in the second of a two-game total goal series with a 4-3 loss to Wisconsin at the Ice for Kids Arena last night.


The Wilderness rallied from three separate one-goal deficits for the win.

Henry Gutierrez, Tyler Stevenson and Byron Katapaytuk scored for the Lakers.

The final game of the series goes tonight.



The Rainy River Voyageurs women's hockey team begins play in the ACHA Division II national championship in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

They're facing the University of Connecticut.

The Voyageurs are the number one ranked team in the west.



International Falls native Dean Blais has been named coach of the year in the WCHA.

Blais coached the University of Nebraska-Omaha to a third place finish in its first year in Division I hockey.
