Local Sports for Wednesday March 2

Donovan Taylor has capture the first-ever OFSAA medal in swimming for Fort Frances High School.

The 16-year-old member of the high school's new swim team finished second in the 100 metre butterfly at the all-Ontario high school swimming championships in Etobicoke.

He was just a half second off capturing gold.

Today, he competes in the 200 Metre Individual Medley where he's ranked number one.





One of the Fort Frances Muskies hockey teams will seek a NORWOSSA title this weekend.

The boys hockey team defeated Red Lake 6-1 at the Ice for Kids Arena last night to advance to the finals with the Kenora Broncos.

Nik Jourdain with 2, Nick Kaun, Robbie Rea, Tyler Mosbeck and Davis Ross provided the scoring with Devon Stromness in net.

Norwossa Finals will open this Friday in Fort Frances.



The Muskies girls hockey team's season is over.

They lost 6-1 in Dryden which eliminates them from further NORWOSSA playoff action.

Shelby Tymkin had the lone Muskies goal.



Two Fort Frances High School curling rinks have captured NORWOSSA championships.

The girls team skipped by Tirzah Keefer and the boys team led by Isaac Keefer captured gold following two days of play in Sioux Lookout.

The mixed team skipped by Luke Esselink won Silver.
