Local Sports for Tuesday March 1

Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team has been forced to a third and deciding game in its playoff series with the Red Lake Rams.

The Rams surprised the league leaders yesterday with a 9-5 win in Red Lake to even the best-of-3 series at game apiece.

The deciding game will go tonight at the Ice for Kids Arena at 7:15 p.m.



The Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team needs another road victory if its to advance to the NORWOSSA finals.

The Muskies are in Dryden tonight with that best-of-three series tied at one win each.

They beat the Eagles in overtime Friday in Dryden to open the series.



Donovan Taylor will seek out a first ever medal in swimming for Fort Frances High School.

The 16-year-old is the only member of the high school's new swim team competing at the all-Ontario high school swimming championships in Etobicoke.

Taylor will compete today in the 100 metre butterfly and tomorrow in the 100 metre individual medley.



Three Fort Frances High School Curling rinks resume play at the NORWOSSA championships being played in Sioux Lookout.

Unfortunately, no scores from yesterday have been passed on.



Fort Frances Lakers will open their SIJHL first round playoffs this weekend in Wisconsin.

Both teams will advance to the semi-finals, but will first play two two-game, total-goal series with the winner earning first choice of their second round opponent.
