Local Sports for Wednesday September 28


Fort Frances Muskies court teams swept their opponents from Kenora's Beaver Brae High School to earn their first wins of the NORWOSSA season.

The senior girls basketball team won 11-10 while the junior girls won 38-23.

The senior boys volleyball team defeated Kenora in 4-sets, 25-13, 25-22, 22-25 and 25-14.

The junior boys won in three, 25-19, 25-23 and 25-23.




International Falls Broncos girls volleyball team lost a 5-set match to Virgina, dropping the first two by scores of 17-25 and 24-26 before rallying for 28-26 and 25-22 wins to tie.

The Broncos lost in the final set 14-16.




Sydney Raboin ran to a first place finish in helping the Falls High School girls cross-country run team to top spot overall at a meet in Ely.

Lexi Erickson, Amber Harms and Amy Auran also finished in the top ten.

The boys team was third with Marco Griffith leading the way in 10th.

Cale Tatsak was 6th and Ian Ducharme 9th in the sophomore boys division.
