Local Sports for Friday September 16

Steve Arpin concludes his five-race ride with Turner Motorsports in NASCAR's truck series tonight in Chicago.

The race can be seen on Speed-TV at 7 p.m. CDT.

Arpin has finished within the top 15 in three previous races with a low of 23rd in his first race at Texas earlier this year.



Falls High School girls swim teams easily outscored their opponents from Northeast Ridge and Ely yesterday.

The varsity girls won nine of 12 events with Breanna Shofner earning two individual victories.

The junior team swept all 11 events.



Sydney Raboin finished 3rd as the Falls High School girls cross country run team finished fourth at a meet in Eveleth.

The boys team was sixth while the junior boys placed second on the strenth of Eric Mathews 2nd place finish.



The International Falls Broncos girls volleyball team was swept in three games by Greenway.

They play Duluth Marshall - 7:30 p.m. tonight at Falls High.



Plenty on tap in high school sports on both sides of the border today.

The Fort Frances Muskies senior boys volleyball team opens its season with a tournament in Kenora.

The Muskies senior girls basketball team is in tournament play in Thunder Bay.

On the grid iron, the Muskies travel to Winnipeg to play Tec Voc.

The Broncos are at Proctor.



Fort Frances Lakers open their SIJHL season with a home game tonight against the Thunder Bay North Stars.
