Local Sports for Friday September 2

Falls High School varsity cross country run teams placed third in both the boys and girls divisions at a meet in Babbit yesterday.

The school also saw success with some of its younger runners.

Wyatt Ulrich finished first in the sophomore boys 4000 metre run and Lexi Erickson was tops in the grade 7 and 8 girls 1600 metre run.



International Falls Broncos girls volleyball team dropped its first match of the year.

The Broncos lost in three straight sets to Littlefork-Big Falls, 21-25, 16-25 and 15-25.



Rainy River Community College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches played in Thief River Falls Wednesday.

The Voyageurs first lost to Itasca in four sets - 19-25, 25-23, 14-25 and 22-25 - the dropped three straight to Northland.



There will be no activity at Emo Speedway this weekend.

Both the Borderland Racing Association and the Borderland Go-Kart Club won't be racing.

Most of the racers and their families are expected at the labour day shootout in Hibbing.
