Local Sports for Thursday September 1

Falls High School Broncos girls volleyball team defeated Two Harbours in four games, winning 25-21, 25-20, 22-25 and 25-21

Reva Renollet paced the team with 6 kills, 4 ace serves and 17 assists.

The Broncos are now 2-0 on the season.



A former member of the Fort Frances Royals junior hockey team from the '60's has been recognized as one of the top 100 all-time high school hockey players in Minnesota.

Defenceman Gary Wood is 85th in a list being compiled by Minnesota Hockey Hub.

Wood, who was born in Fort Frances, was an all-state player as International Falls reached three straight state tournaments before he joining the Royals.

He was drafted by Oakland in the 1967 NHL draft, but never played a single game.
