Local Sports for Friday February 10


Trevor Bonot's Stratton rink suffered a blow yesterday at the Northern Ontario men's curling playdown in Sault Ste. Marie

Bonot fell to 6th spot after losing 8-4 to Brad Jacobs of the Soo and 7-4 to Jordan Chandler of Sudbury.

Bonot needs a win in his final game this morning and some help from other rinks to force tiebreakers in order to advance to the playoff round.




Fort Frances area players figures in all of the scoring in the Northwest All-stars 4-0 win over Lumsden to open a pee-wee hockey tournament in Brandon.

Noah Loveday, Hunter Koles and Brett Hakala each scored goals while Loveday added an assist in the teams's other goal by Elijah Loon-Stewardson.

The Stars play Mordon this morning.




Fort Frances Muskies boys hockey team defeated Sioux Lookout last night 8-1.

They're in Dryden tonight.




Christian Kittleson scored three times in pacing the Internatinoal Falls Broncos boys hockey team to a 7-1 win over Lake of the Woods.



The Broncos girls basketball team defeated Greenway 73-46.




Fort Frances Muskies boys basketball teams have earned byes to the finals of next week's NORWOSSA playoffs.

The junior boys teams secured first place in its division with a 39-21 win over Dryden yesterday.

The senior boys ended their season with a 49-27 win over the Eagles.



The Muskies girls volleyball teams will have to earn their way into the NORWOSSA finals.

The senior girls volleyball team will face Kenora in a semi-final game after ending its season in last with a three-set loss to Dryden.

The juniors will also play Kenora in the semis after finishing second with a three loss sets to the Eagles.
