Local Sports for Thursday February 16


Fort Frances Muskies court teams used their home court advantage to earn three of four NORWOSSA championship yesterday.

The senior boys basketball team will advance to the NWOSSA playdown after beating Dryden 43-37 for the NORWOSSA crown.

The junior boys dominated Dryden in their final 44-25

The biggest upset came in junior girls volleyball where the Muskies defeated top-ranked Dryden in four sets for the win.

The seniors girls, winners of just one win during the regular season, surprised Kenora in the semi-finals, but lost to Dryden in three sets in the final.




Playoffs in NORWOSSA A action takes place today in Kenora with three district high school teams in action.

The Rainy River Owls plays Kenora's Thomas Aquanis in a semi-final game in junior boys basketball.

The Owls are also in semi-final action in senior girls volleyball against Sioux Lookout.

And Atikokan faces Thomas Aquanis in junior girls volleyball for the right to play Rainy River in tomorrow's final.
