Local Sports for Tuesday February 14


There are playoff implications in today's final regular season games in the Norwossa A division of boys basketball and girls volleyball with Rainy River in Atikokan.

In senior boys basketball, Atikokan is tied with Sioux Lookout for the third and final playoff spot.

In junior boys play, Rainy River is in a three-way tie for third.

Both schools are already in the playoffs in junior girls volleyball with Rainy River currently first and Atikokan third.

Rainy River is second in senior play while Atikokan can finish no higher than fourth.




Fort Frances Muskies girls hockey team plays its final home game of the Norwossa regular season with a game against Dryden.

Game time at the Ice for Kids Arena is 6:45 p.m.




A busy day for high school teams in the Falls.

The Broncos girls hockey team is in semi-final action against top ranked Chiscago Lakes in the Section 7A championship.

That game being played in Cloquet.

The Broncos boys hockey team hosts Roseau - 7:30 p.m. at Broncos Arena

The Broncos boys basketball team faces Mountain-Iron Buhl in their first game in almost two weeks.

And the girls basketball team is at Littlefork-Big Falls.




In girls hockey from last night, Lakewood Tire Eagles blanked Super 8 3-0 in a pee-wee division match-up.

Macey Weir, Maighyn DeGagne and Kelsey Langtry provided the scoring.
