Local Sports For Friday December 28

Some cross-league competition is in store for the Fort Frances Lakers next weekend.

The Lakers, along with the Minnesota Wilderness will play a series of games with a pair of opponents from the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League.

The games will be played in Spooner, Wisconsin.



A two goal performance from Lucas Debenedet helped the International Falls Broncos boys hockey team to a 3-3 tie with Osseo in its first game at the Hockeytown Holiday Classic in Warroad.

The Broncos play Grafton, North Dakota this afternoon.



Hilliary Fox scored twice at the Broncos girls hockey team blanked Marshall 8-nothing to open play at the Schwan Cup tournament in Blaine.

They face Minnehaha tonight.



Fort Frances Canadian double A pee-wee team is in Bemidji for tournament play this weekend.

They open with games against Cloquet and St. Cloud today.



The International Falls Broncos boys basketball team defeated South Ridge 84-67 in Esko and will play Esko tonight.

The girls team lost to Mora 77-68 at a tournament in Virginia and will play Cook this afternoon.



Ben Andrusco captured the Sunset Country Squash Club's Boxing Day Tournament.

He defeated Annis Seid in four games in the title event.

David Schwartz was the B-side winner over Ryan Brady.

Clint Pidlubny defeated Rory Bagacki in five games to capture the C-side.
