Local Sports For Tuesday December 18

International Broncos boys basketball team moved back to the .500 mark on the season with a 58-31 win over Littlefork-Big Falls.

The Broncos girls team won its sixth straight defeating Bigfork 78-35.

The Broncos girls hockey team is on the ice tonight, hosting Bemidji, 7:15 p.m. at Bronco Arena.



Fort Frances Lakers back on home ice to face the Minnesota Wilderness.

The Wilderness have been recently ranked number two on a list of junior A clubs in Canadian hockey leagues.

The Lakers lost the last two meetings between these two clubs.



Matt Kaarela of the Thunder Bay North Stars has been named the SIJHL's player of the week.

Lakers netminder Jameson Shortreed was an honourable mention.



A pair of honours for members of the Rainy River Voyageurs basketball teams.

Jeff Romeus, a sophomore out of Florida, has been named player of the week in the MCAC's northern division.

He averaged 17 points and 3.5 rebounds in the men's two losses on the weekend.

Mariah Childs was a co-winner on the women's side.

The freshman from Chicago averaged 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds as the Voyageurs split their games.
