Local Sports For Monday December 17

Fort Frances Lakers needed the shootout to defeat Duluth 3-2 in Duluth last night.

Owen Stauber got the deciding goal after five rounds in the shootout.

Colton Spicer and Kevin Kurm scored in regulation.

The Lakers game on Saturday with Thunder Bay was cancelled because of weather.



Thunder Bay's Krista McCarville and her rink earned a trip to the Ontario Scotts Tournament of Hearts after going undefeated at the Northern Ontario Curling Association's playdown in Atikokan.

The provincial crown will be played late next month in Kitchener.



International Falls Broncos girls hockey team lost to Rogers 7-3 Saturday.

The boys basketball team lost to Esko 67-44.

The Broncos boys hockey team's game with Detroit Lakes on Saturday was postponed due to weather.
