Local Sports For Wednesday December 19

John Dora scored twice, but it wasn't enough for the Fort Frances Lakers who fell 4-2 to the league leading Minnesota Wilderness last night at the Ice For Kids Arena.

Dora had been recently obtained from Portage of the Manitoba Junior League.

The loss leaves the Lakers in a tie for third with Thunder Bay who has a game with Duluth tonight.



International Falls Broncos girls hockey team was thumped 9-1 by Bemidji.



More high school hockey games at Fort Frances High School have been cancelled because of the labour dispute with teachers.

School officials says all games up to January 14 have been cancelled for both the boys and girls teams.

All other sports at Fort High are currently cancelled into the new year as high school teachers continue their withdrawal from extra-curricular activities in protest over Bill 115.



The Borderland Women's Indoor Soccer League brings its first-half of its inaugural season to a close tonight.

Boston Pizza has a six point lead in the standings.



In a late score from Monday, Lakewood Tire Eagles  defeated Kaemingh Esso 7-4.

Annalise Hayes scored six times for the Eagles with Cyah Pitramont adding the other.

Maddy Morrison with three and Maighyn DeGagne replied for Esso.
